The Museum identity today, engine of culture and sustainable business

Today more than ever, due to the speed of evolution of customs, the change in value systems and, last but not least, the consequences of the pandemic, every museum is faced with existential questions about its role, including the imperative of being able to attract (again) visitors, keep budgets in balance, play a social role and become more attractive not only against the competition of other cultural institutions but also against other sectors capable of attracting audience attention, managed with the same business models of sustainability of a traditional company

Recently, many cultural institutions have invested in defining their own digital presence but in most cases we see that the technological opportunities to broaden their attraction on the public have been interpreted in a simplistic and restrictive way, rather than as a possibility to extend to a new dimension the personality of the museum, of their artworks, of the logic of the curators

With these considerations, Archimede Arte has created MUSA, the "MUseum iS Always open", a modern digital system composed of a set of services that each cultural institution can customize, adapting them to its own vision and needs.

In particular, MUSA was born around a precise idea: Art has attracted and played its own role only when it has become usable, experienceable, by people in those ways capable of responding to the needs of the society of that time, which today are declined in the visitor's need to be an active spectator, to leave a mark of himself/herself, to participate in the creation of a value, a message

MUSA allows museums to go beyond the logic of using its digital image only as a free "showcase" to promote its cultural heritage, but it helps to design a digital experience integrated with the real one for the benefit of the visitor, with models of “freemium” business (free access to sections, but with some sections paid), subscription, sponsorship, donation, right of publication, and others, in a manner consistent with the addresses of the museum management.

Services are designed to be offered individually, autonomously, able to be integrated with the investments already made by the museum management even if, obviously, they produce the maximum benefit by proceeding with a top-down strategic approach, starting from the design of how the museum is immersed in its community, which artworks it has and which are the artistic, cultural, social and development aims of the Direction. In this sense, it is possible to evaluate, in a preparatory way for the development of the project, the integration of Archimede Arte's services on the existing site of the Museum

MUSA aims to enhance and promote the heritage of museums from different perspectives as:

it is an effective promotional tool thanks to the possibility for the Museum to develop the contents independently, using integrated SEO techniques, being integrated with social platforms and with Italian promotion portals

is a commercial platform with virtual ticket office, bookshop with online sales and other paid services

is an interactive virtual museum with profiled access and the ability to offer visitors ways to express and create value within the virtual museum space

it is a solution to make rooms closed to tourism such as historic libraries, historic houses, prestigious rooms, ancient gardens and other monuments normally not accessible

is a system that analyzes data related to visitors and their interests, improving museum marketing activities

A web template which is the entry point to the museum, with features to:

Present the museum, present the history of collections, present exhibitions and events that are or will be hosted by the museum

Collect information for visitor profiling

Collect the subscription of visitors to the newsletter

Be the coupling point for the other modules that provide services on different virtual channels

MUSA can also be integrated with existing sites; it is the crossroads of the many services offered by the museum where visitors can:

Purchase items from the Museum Bookshop

Purchase the options of the "Virtual Tour 360 °" modules

Purchase the paid options of the "Virtual Exhibitions" modules

Purchase specific services (e.g. teaching, tours, events, etc.)

A multi-user, multi-level, user-friendly content management system, designed to give user total autonomy in updating content.

A Multi-relational platform able to integrate social channels, email marketing, adv campaigns, museum correspondence and analysis data, to deliver powerful marketing tool features.

Monitor how the audience react to the stimuli offered, to change and improve the direction the museum has taken.

With the integration of Google Analytics, precise indications on public trends, measuring visits in detail and, above all, identifying tastes and interests to help create effective and targeted proposals

Link your museum to MUSA

To explore the contents of the museum in a neutral, guided or filtered way, get to know and possibly interact with artworks and Museum staff.
Multilingual, based on 360°spherical high-resolution photos, with an extraordinary level of detail, thanks to the technology used by Archimede Arte.
Configurable as a tour that retraces the real experience through the rooms (with or without a guide) or as an ad-hoc path that the visitor takes, discovering only those artworks that meet predefined search criteria (e.g. by author, artistic current , social or religious theme, type of technique used, material used, clothing, etc.).

Visitors can book and purchase a voucher to visit the museum in a specified date and time, based on the museum's availability.
If used as a single booking system, the manager can enter all bookings received from different channels in MUSA t and o better accommodate the flow of visitors without booking.
It allows the management of a "queue of visitors with reservation" with reduced access times to the museum rooms.
It requires a device connected to the network for each staff member dedicated to receive reservations.

Create virtual exhibitions to verify the potential interest of visitors and design a real exhibition as a consequence. The curator can upload - in a virtual space of the museum website - images of works chosen according to the theme they want to bring to attention, associate texts and comments to the works, and open the exhibition to online visitors.
The system allows you to record the interest and evaluation of visitors on the exhibition, allows you to leave comments and suggestions and provides the curator only, as a system administrator, with an indication of the probability of the success of the exhibition, should it actually take place.
